MANCHESTER, N.H. — A New Hampshire couple’s art collection that took more than 50 years to amass is now on display in Manchester.
The Currier Art Museum is displaying 20 percent of the collection of David and Barbara Stahl. Much of it is black and white prints, which David Stahl said were affordable when they first started collecting in 1956.Stahl said their first purchases were two George Rouault prints of circus performers. In 2006, he finally bought the eighth and final one to complete the series. But during a 50-year period, he collected hundreds of pieces, including not only prints, but illustrations and sculptures, as well.
